URGENT - TRAINING on TUESDAY (6-Jan) evening has a venue change indoors to Hallam University Collegiate Site/Pearson Building, http://www.shu.ac.uk/visit/plancollegiate.html - post-Christmas fitness & conditioning session. suitable sports hall footwear required. Time 7pm start. Thursday night training will be at Abbeydale as normal.
This weekends game, 10th January, the 1st team back in League action at home to Skipton, K.O. 2.15pm, all support welcomed and encouraged.
17th January ‘09, has now been finalised as the Malton & Norton re-arranged league fixture away at Malton (weather permitting).
The first half of the season has seen the 1st Xv winning more than lost and standing a very creditable 5th in the league and the team are in good form and on a winning streak. If we can maintain this current momentum in the second half of the season we can make push for for a promotional place.
The 2nd XV have performed magnificently throughout the first half of the season and currently lead their respective table and if they can continue their momentum and fine performances they are track to take the honours.
The Ladies Team continue with their winning ways and at the half way stage they lead their League. With some really excellent performances, both home and away they are in promotional position.
Our strength in depth comes from the fantastic Mini & Junior section which moves from strength to strength with teams in every age category playing great rugby and achieving some very impressive results. Some of the current 1st XV have come through this route and many others have gone outside of Sheffield to achieve top honours at University, Rugby Academy’s and with Rugby Clubs where they now live. A thriving and well coached Mini & Junior section is the real grass roots to providing the talent of tomorrow and Sheffield continues to provide both in abundance.

Thanks go to all the supporters, ex-players and gold club members who attend the afternoon lunch in the restaurant before the games for all home games. Sheffield RUFC are looking forward to the new season after consolidating their position in Yorkshire 1 and looking to build upon the end of year performances to push for promotion this season. They have consolidated their player base and attracted new players over the closed period; who are now involved with pre-season training at Abbeydale
