Thanks for dropping by to our little site, where throughout the year we shall strive to keep you all informed and updated with the goings-on here at Codsall.
2007 saw a very successful season on the playing front with the first XI flirting with mid-table obscurity in division 2 and the second XI performing likewise following promotion to division 2a. The junior squads performed exceptionally well against established opposition, repeatedly ruffling the feathers of big names, often winning close games.
2008 will bring many new challenges. Some of these we only have ourselves to blame for as several players may be on dirty nappy duty during the summer! The first XI will have to contend with three relegated division 1 teams, due to Birmingham League regulations. The second XI have suffered at the hands of the elite more than most as, following an increase in relegated sides from the Birmingham League, they have to make way and drop back down to division 3a. This is unfortunate and no fault of their own. We also launch a third XI this season into division 5, allowing a blend of senior players and junior starlets to play league cricket.
Several new changes to the committee have already taken place and the new incumbents are bedding down to the tasks in hand. Our thanks go to those who leave active service.
Finally for now - playing staff, the lifeblood of any club. Of course there are always the regulars, both in junior and senior teams, but with three league sides to put out each week and junior matches throughout the season new players are always most welcome to join. Don't be shy about contacting us and most definitely don't worry about whether you are good enough. If you can hold a bat, bowl a ball straight for approximately 18 yards and stop a ball that is near to you, we may just be the club you are looking for.
As long as you don't have two heads, a funny limp or the plague, obviously.
