Foxhangers is a family run business and have been providing holidays in and around the Kennet & Avon Canal since 1974, Our narrowboat holidays have proved extremely popular since we began hiring out boats in 1997 when we had just a single boat!

We have grown to a fleet of 12 hire-boats and put our success down to several factors but largely our competitive prices, location and a strong understanding of customers’ needs. We offer canal boat holidays in the UK using traditional narrowboats; competitive hire prices for both weekly and short break holidays and often have special offers on late availability, especially at less busy times of the year.

We have considerable experience in all things canal boat through building and maintaining the hire fleet over the years. So new for 2009 we will be building several new boats a year for sale direct to the public. We are also able to service and repair boats and have a covered paint dock for hire. For many years we have provided private, long-term moorings in an attractive rural location.

Canal Boat Holidays

Our hire fleet consists of 12 narrowboats which include 3 x 2-4 berths, 2 x 2-5 berths, 5 x 4-7 berths and 3 x 6-9 berths. We offer the following lengths of breaks as standard;

• Weekend breaks - available on 4-7 and 6-9 berth boats
• Midweek Mon-Fri breaks – available on 4-7 and 6-9 berth boats
• Weekly breaks – available from Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays
• 10/11 day breaks – available from Fridays and Mondays

Foxhangers Canal Holidays is operated from our small holiday farm/marina along side the canal and your holiday will start at the foot of the magnificent flight of 29 locks near Devizes. From here you can choose to navigate this famous fight and travel East towards Newbury, or for a less strenuous cruise head West where you can easily travel to Bath or even reach Bristol and back in a week!

We welcome beginners to canal boats and offer all the tuition you will need before you head off.

‘New’ Foxhanger built boats for Sale

Many canal boats have been built out of our premises at Foxhangers for over 25 years, and we have built all our own hire boats over the years. So now new for 2009 using all our experience and knowledge we will be selling several brand new finished narrowboats every year direct to the public. We also will endeavour to offer a highly coveted mooring at Foxhangers on the Kennet & Avon with any boat sold.

We believe our in depth knowledge of the canal boat industry, years of experience and attention to detail has helped develop what we intend to be the ultimate in good value yet luxuriously appointed modern well crafted narrowboats.

Narrowboat building is a vastly competitive field and you will find many companies offering attractive promises and deals but we believe our product will stand up for itself.

We have an excellent reputation as medium sized family run business which does things the right way and not necessarily the cheap n’easy way yet at the same time we do it with a smile on our face because we enjoy what we do and gain satisfaction from getting people ‘out on the water’.

Canal Boat Moorings

Set amongst farmland in a quiet, rural location Foxhangers Wharf offers private moorings for some 40 boats of varying lengths and widths.

Just 5 minutes from Devizes town centre and 30 minutes from the M4 we are readily accessible to most of the population centres in the south and west. Contact us to check what moorings we have available.

Boat Servicing and Repairs.

Using the experience our engineers have gained over many years looking after our hire fleet we are able to offer a maintenance and repair service for most types of boats.

We are able to undertake large and small jobs from an engine Service to refitting a whole narrowboat.

We have close links with the major engine and heating suppliers and we are able to source and fit most types of boat equipment, etc. Give us a call to discuss your requirements.

Self-Catering and Camping at Lower Foxhangers

There are four self catering holiday homes pleasantly situated in a farm orchard among fruit trees and mature gardens.

The orchard is in a quiet setting about 300 yards from the public road. The Kennet & Avon canal passes nearby and situated at the foot of the famous flight of twenty-nine locks. The towpath at the side of the locks makes a pleasant and varied walk to Devizes and has been resurfaced suitable for cycling between Devizes and Bath. The fishing in the canal is very good, and the canal is well stocked with carp especially. We can provide Devizes Angling Association fishing licenses if required.

The small campsite at Lower Foxhangers comprises two small paddocks, both of less than one acre. One of these which is slightly sloping is used for members of the Caravan & Camping Club while the other is used for tents. Some of the caravan pitches have electric hook-up and the shower and toilets are situated about forty yards from the field.
