Find people in Cambridge

If you're looking for someone in Cambridge, enter their name into the search box above.

Cambridge is a university town with a population of 123,900 according to the 2011 census. In such a bustling city, it's going to be hard to find someone you're looking for if you rely on old fashioned methods.

The rest of this guide will provide you with more information on Cambridge's census records and archives to further help you with your search.

Cambridge Electoral Register Archives

There are two copies of the electoral register. White Pages offers you access to over a decade's worth of information from the edited register– however, people have the option to opt out of this version. The full version of the electoral register can only be viewed under supervision at specified official venues or at The British Library.

You can view the full version of Cambridge's electoral register at:

The Guildhall
Market Square

You should make an appointment in advance to ensure that someone is able to assist you. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm and Friday, 9am to 4.30pm.

Changes in City and County Boundaries

The Inclosure Acts of 1801 and 1807 enabled the expansion of Cambridge; in 1912 and again in 1935, the city's boundaries were extended to include areas such as Chesterton, Cherry Hinton, Fen Ditton, Trumpington, and Grantchester.

Therefore if you're looking for someone from one of these areas from before the relevant time period, you may not be able to find records of them at The Guildhall listed above.
