STD Codes

What are STD codes? STD stands for Subscriber Trunk Dialing and is used by the UK telephone system as a means of dialling relatively long distance calls to separate areas of the UK without needing an operator. For example, to dial a phone number located in Glasgow, you would first need to dial the telephone code: 0141. These phone area codes are regulated by Ofcom and can vary between three and five digits.
